Developments Regarding the 2020 LGS Exam — When Will the 2020 LGS Take Place?
There have been recent updates about the LGS exam planned for 2020. As the exam approaches, authorities have announced details and preparations. With the increasing number of students, the Ministry of National Education has already begun preparations earlier than usual to ensure sufficient capacity and smooth administration of the 2020 LGS.
Previously known as TEOG, the exam system was replaced and the LGS was introduced in 2017. Since then, preparations for each year’s LGS continue at full speed. Students counting down to the exam are studying intensively, often using sample questions and materials published on the Ministry of National Education’s official website.
When Will the 2020 LGS Be Held?
According to the Ministry of National Education’s announcement, the 2020 LGS will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2020. The exam will be based on the 8th grade curriculum and will be administered in two sessions on the same day, consisting of a total of 90 multiple-choice questions. The first part covers the verbal section with 50 questions and a time limit of 75 minutes. The second part covers the numerical section with 40 questions and a time limit of 80 minutes.
The Deputy Minister has explained how preparations are proceeding: by March, work to determine which schools will admit students through exams and which will admit students without exams, along with their capacities, will be completed. He noted that all preparations are progressing as planned and that no major capacity problems are anticipated.
Because the number of students has increased, the Ministry started the placement process for secondary education institutions earlier than usual in 2020. Regional meetings chaired by the Deputy Minister were held with provincial directors to examine each province’s placement situation for the 2020 LGS. At these meetings, officials reviewed student numbers by registration region, current school capacities, schools under construction, and planned investments to ensure adequate placement and capacity planning.
Deputy Minister Mahmut Özer emphasized that the 2019 LGS placement process was completed successfully and credited that success to coordinated efforts by all relevant units and provincial directors. This coordinated approach will continue to guide preparations and placements for 2020 to ensure the process runs smoothly for students, families, and schools.
