When Will the Curfew End in All 81 Provinces?

When Will the Curfew for All 81 Provinces End? The curfew imposed for the university entrance exams (YKS) held on Saturday and Sunday is one of the most asked questions. The curfew for the Saturday YKS exam began at 09:30 and ended at 15:00. So when will the curfew for the Sunday YKS exam start and finish? The YKS exam held on Sunday, June 28, 2020, has begun and the curfew took effect at 09:30.

Across Turkey’s 81 provinces, a curfew is in effect from 09:30 to 18:30, with certain exceptions, due to the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Interior, the curfew for all 81 provinces started at 09:30. The Ministry sent a directive to provincial governors on June 18, 2020, to ensure that the LGS exam on June 20, 2020, the YKS held yesterday and the YKS held today are conducted in the safest way for public health. Within this framework, restrictions on leaving home during specified hours will be applied to protect public health.

Domestic and Foreign Tourists Will Be Exempt from the Curfew

Domestic and foreign tourists will be exempt from the curfew. The restriction, intended to reduce crowding and transmission risk before and after the YKS and to ensure the exam runs smoothly, will end today at 18:30. In addition, the Minister of Interior announced that domestic and foreign tourists will be exempt from the curfew. The announcement states the following.

In the additional exemption notice sent by the Ministry of Interior to the 81 provincial governorships, tourists who are already staying at accommodation facilities or who have made reservations or tour bookings, whether previously or subsequently, will be considered exempt so that ongoing or future bookings and tour sales are not adversely affected. The exemptions include the following:

  • Transfers to their reserved accommodation (including transfers between airports, bus terminals and ports and accommodation facilities, and intercity travel by private vehicles),
  • Use of beaches (including public beaches if the accommodation has no private beach),
  • Visits to museums, archaeological sites, historic, cultural and religious monuments, worship places and tombs; employees providing services at these sites or businesses will also be exempt from the restrictions.
