We all know that almost every job application in the private sector asks “what is your military service status?” Employers generally prefer candidates who have deferred their military service for a certain period, completed their service, or have an exemption. Because institutions want continuity, applicants are often required to submit documentation of their military service status during the application process. Today, military status verification can be completed quickly via e-Government (e-Devlet) and the printout can be used as an official document. In this article, we will explain how to check military status using your national ID number.
Military Status Check
As mentioned at the beginning, to verify your military status and obtain the relevant document you must log into the e-Government (e-Devlet) system.
The e-Government portal is a centralized interface established by the Republic of Turkey that allows citizens to perform many government-related transactions online. Within the portal, you will find the ministries and their services listed, with many institutional procedures available electronically. e-Government has greatly simplified life for citizens by eliminating long waits at government offices and making document and case tracking easier.
To access e-Government, you must first activate your account and obtain a password. You can get your initial password from any PTT branch by paying a small fee. The password is printed on a scratch-off area inside the envelope you receive. By gently scratching that area with a coin, you will reveal the password provided for first-time use.
When you visit the e-Government website, you will be prompted to enter your Turkish national ID number and your password. The first time you log in, you may be asked to provide additional information for verification. After you supply these details, you will be directed to the services page. Type “military status inquiry” or “askerlik sorgulama” into the search bar and the top result will take you to the page that displays your military information.
Alternatively, you can navigate directly to the military status document inquiry page within the e-Government portal and locate the service. On the service page, check the box that indicates “I have read, understood, and accept the information above,” then click the “CONTINUE” button.
Click the “Create New Document” button on the resulting screen and your military service certificate will be generated automatically. You can then view, download, or print this document for submission with job applications or other official procedures.
